 Both my friend and I are having problems with typing notifications using
 the Yahoo IM protocol. Neither one of us is getting the notification of
 typing unless the person typing is using a 2.5.x version of pidgin. She
 had upgraded yesterday to 2.6.1 while I was still on 2.5.8, I believe.
 When she was typing to me, I never saw anything but when I was typing at
 her, she saw it fine. I upgraded to 2.6.1 this morning to see if I could
 duplicate her issue, and when I'm typing to her, she doesn't see any
 notification, and when she types to me, I don't see any notification, and
 we're both on 2.6.1. I did try it with somebody who doesn't use pidgin
 (Yahoo Messenger) and they don't see notifications from me either.

 Now, searching through the pidgin tickets, I found ticket #9996 but it's
 for XMPP - which I don't seem to be having any problems with typing
 notifications for - and it seems to be related to one person who's using
 2.5.x and the other who's using 2.6.x, but since I upgraded to 2.6.1 and
 my friend is on 2.6.1, that doesn't seem to fit us.

 Here's the bug report of me typing to my friend who using Yahoo Messenger
 and he not getting the notification I'm typing (just in case there's
 anything in it useful):
