#10074: -f does not behave as described
-------------------+--------------------------------------------------------
Reporter: kermit | Type: defect
Status: new | Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.6.1 | Keywords: disconnect disconnects connectoin NetworkManager network tcp timeout
-------------------+--------------------------------------------------------
Added -f command line option to tell Pidgin to ignore NetworkManager and
assume it has a valid network connection.

-f, --force-online force online, regardless of network status

Maybe it ignores NetworkManager in some cases, but not the cases I'm
looking for. If NetworkManager does pretty much anything at all, pidgin
forces all my connections closed, when connections that don't hyperreact
to NetworkManager are fine. A -f that does ignores NetworkManager
completely would allow connections to follow standard TCP protocol
timeouts and remain open like all my other connections, rather than
presumptuously and incorrectly closing them. If not with -f, then with
'--ignore-network-manager-completely' or something. Fortunately I can
kill NetworkManager unless I actually need it, for now :)

I consider this a defect because it's intentionally disconnecting when the
 connection would otherwise be fine.
