 Yep, "@gmail.com".

 Ok, I got both accounts to work, but I had to modify my Gmail account
 settings.  I re-selected "Google Talk" from the Protocol drop down list
 (of course it defaults to an XMPP protocal after you save).  I think that
 it changed one setting, the "Require SSL/TLS" option. (possibly a second
 setting the file proxy server but I can't see this would be an issue since
 I didn't try to initiate any file transfers. I think it went from
 proxy.jabber.org to proxy.eu.jabber.org)

 So I'm still not exactly sure what the issue was but it appears to be
 resolved.  Thanks for the quick response and sorry if I raised a false
 issue.
