New description:

 I use GMail (Google Talk) and a local jabber server in Pidgin, I used to
 be able to log into both simultaneously in, I think it was version 2.5.8
 of Pidgin, but since upgrading to 2.6.1 I no longer can.

 If I disable one of the accounts then I can successfully log into the
 other but not both at the same time.  It seems that both accounts try to
 use one account's settings if you try to use them at the same time.
