 I have to enable/disable every account for the buddy list to fill up. I
 realize that this is basically the same bug as #8324, but I didn't succeed
 in reopening it. Also, the proposed fix in there was to disable the NLA
 windows service, but this is not the case since I'm using Linux. Attaching
 a log of what happens, but like in #8324 I get the message:

 "account: Network not connected; skipping reconnect"

 In that bug the explanation was:

 "The problem is that Windows NLA (Network Location Awareness) service
 doesn't think you're connected to any network.Any idea why this might be?
 What kind of network configuration are you using? "

 In my case, I'm using a wireless WPA link with wpa_supplicant. Network
 manager does indeed think I don't have connectivity. This is not a problem
 with any other app installed on my computer (i.e. firefox or claws-mail
 don't start in work offline mode, etc)

 My guess would be that pidgin queries network manager instead of actually
 seeing if the network interface is actually up and running.
