Comment:

 I don't think it's necessary.  From my experience with Ubuntu, security
 updates are enabled by default, so I don't know why they weren't in this
 case.  Additionally, it's not a very common situation (this is only one of
 a handful of reports I think I've seen), and I think the instructions on
 the website already cause enough trouble for people.
