Comment:

FYI AOL thinks this is fixed now. Please let me know if anyone still sees
 this error message.

 1. I am seeing around 7% of requests to
 https://api.screenname.aol.com/auth/clientLogin return an empty response.
I believe this is unrelated to the captcha request. I've seen this in the
past and it eventually went away or was fixed by AOL. I've reported this
 occurrence to AOL.

 2. darkrain42: Thank you for being proactive and adding that error
message. I do think it makes sense to add something back in. I liked the
phrasing you suggested in d at cpi (I think it was you who suggested it).
Something like, "The server requires you to respond to a CAPTCHA, but this
 client does not support it."

 3. It would probably be even better to actually support CAPTCHA requests.
 This is documented at
 http://dev.aol.com/authentication_for_clients#getCaptcha But I don't know
the circumstances that cause the server to ask us to fill out a captcha,
and I don't know how you would test this. I don't think this is a
priority. It's possible AOL will decide they'll never use the captcha
 request.
