 I am currently facing this same defect. Not necessarily from a friend on a
 Blackberry, but they are using their cell phone and the text comes across
 exactly as described; Occasionally, I do receive the text as "normal", but
 for the most part I receive the messages as small boxes that look similar
 to Legos. It's also important to note that I've only been experiencing
 this through AIM protocol. My mobile friends using other IM services, such
 as GoogleTalk, still seem to get through normally.

 This was not a problem I had experience with any of the previous versions
 of Pidgin, I had only started experiencing this once I had upgraded to
 v2.6.4.
