 Here is what is happening (or at least more information):
 `24.28.193.9` is the IP address that your ISP (or at least your DNS server
 provider) (Road Runner) "politely" (read: stupidly and in violation of how
 DNS is supposed to work) provides when it can't resolve the DNS name
 (instead of saying "not found").

 I don't know why it is working for the `juice` machine, but not the
 `Codys-MacBook`, but it isn't anything that Pidgin can do anything about.

 You could try using [http://code.google.com/speed/public-
 dns/docs/using.html the google DNS servers] if you like.  You may also try
 reinstalling the Apple Bonjour Runtime to make sure that the DNS hooks are
 registered correctly.
