 It's funny, but I have almost the same problem with the only difference
 that mine is vice versa. =)

 I seem to be always invisible now for all people that have me in my
 contact list.
 Before using Pidgin i've been using QIP for a while and used its imbo
 Invisible for All status.
 Then i switched and only 3 month later i figured out that i'm an invisible
 man.

 i guess somehow Pidgin fails to update the status to the server.
