 I have a somewhat unstable Internet connection that drops a lot

 New description:

 The problem seemed to occur on both winXP and vista for me. In ubuntu 8.10
 last I checked about a week ago it was still a version behind (2.5.3  I
 beleive) in the add remove programs.
