Comment(by johnrrocha):
I also have this problem, and its very frustrating.
The problem is, if you have groups in your buddy list, and you decide to
delete a group. It disappears from the buddy list for now. But then if you
completely exit Pidgin and then restart it, the delete group re-appears.
Its almost like the local representation of the group is deleted, but some
central database somewhere doesn't get updated to remove the group.
To cause this problem do the following:
1) Create a group by selecting "Buddies->Add Group". Name it something
like "Delete Me"
2) Move a user into the group, just to make sure we fully register it as a
group.
3) Completely exit pidgin.
4) Restart Pidgin.
5) Move the user from the "Delete Me" group back to their original group,
making this group empty.
6) Delete the group by right clicking on the "Delete Me" group name and
then selecting "Delete Group"
7) This cause the group to leave your Buddy List (for now). So the next
step is to completely exit Pidgin.
8) Restart Pidgin.
9) Look at your Buddy list.. the "Delete Me" group, has re-appeared.
I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I use Pidgin to connect to
Sametime and AIM.
