 Just to add one more point: The backend in 2.5.4 seems to support this
 model as well -- as is witnessed by the workaround I posted. Given the
 fact that I don't have much familiarity with the code, let me make a bold
 surmise that fixing the "load accounts" path during re-start should fix
 this issue -- possibly in conjunction with wkeicher's patch above.
