 Agreed, pidgin should not die in this case, however the server also should
 not be sending this to us. It is not legal for a muc room participant not
 to have a room nickname. See
 [http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0045.html#enter section 7.1] of the MUC
 XEP, the room is supposed to return an error is someone tries to join a
 room without a nickname set. So you should report this as a bug to the
 people responsible for the server.
