New description:

 In my current setup, I have pidgin on a separate workspace, out of sight
 and out of mind, away from what I am actually doing. Occasionally my
 connection will die. However, because the buddy list (and thus the error
 message) are out of sight, I don't notice and it stays disconnected for
 longer than I would prefer. Setting the urgent hint, similar to the
 Message Notification plugin, would work a treat.
