 If you create a portable version of pidgin like it is described in the FAQ
 there's a problem with the global buddy icon.

 If you set an icon per protocol the image file is stored inside the folder
 .purple/icons/. If you set a global avatar by clicking on the image icon
 at the bottom of pidgin's buddylist the path to the image file is stored
 in the file prefs.xml:

 Einstellungen\xyz\Eigene Dateien\Eigene Bilder\avatar_klein.gif'/>
 }}}
 That leads to a limitation of the portable version because the image file
 is not in this folder on other computers. A solution would be to copy
 global buddyimages into the folder .purple/icons/, too.
