Comment:

 Something appears to be preventing pidgin from connecting to
 login.messaging.aol.com on port 5190, I suspsect that if you try to telnet
 to that host and port yourself you will find the connection failing. You
 need to find what changed that is now preventing that, a new firewall, a
 new proxy, a new anti-virus, updates to any of those, etc.
