New description:

 Please see attached screencast (Did Track lose the first attachment?).

 This problem happens a bit randomly: with one Jabber contact, but not
 another. On IRC, always (from what I've seen so far), on YM never.

 Plugins: Bot Sentry, Buddy State Notification, Diff Topic, Highlight,
 Infopane Options, IRC Helper, IRC More, Join/Part Hiding, Last Seen,
 Markerline, Message Notification, Nicksaid, Offline Message Emulation,
 Pidgin-Encryption, Psychic Mode, Release Notification, Switch Spell, Text
 replacement, Windows Pidgin Options and probably Twitgin, although it
 shows unchecked in the list while I can IM Twitter %-|
