 We can certainly increase the number of ports that are tried, but this is
 going to be somewhat problematic in terms of compatibility with other
 clients (no more so than our current behavior of actually trying ports
 other than 5298, I suppose).

 Many clients will only successfully connect to a client using port 5298.
