 What do you mean the scroll bars "do not depress when clicked"? Do you
 mean the scroll arrows, the trough (empty area), or the shuttle?

 I'm going to assume you are using Windows because of your comment about
 the tooltips staying around longer than they should, this is a long-
 standing GTK+ bug that has gotten better but is still not perfect. Some
 patches have just been accepted which should make things even better but
 still likely not perfect.

 What version of Windows are you using? What version of GTK+ do you have
 installed (the About dialog will tell you)? What GTK+ theme are you using
 (the Gtk+ Theme Selector in the start menu will tell you)?

 The insertion cursor correctly disappears for me when I focus some other
 window under Windows XP here (I'm using the Raleigh GTK+ theme).

 Clicking the conversation window tabs should only select the tab contents
 if you click twice (that is click an already focused/selected tab). A
 single click should not do that. Are you seeing single clicks on
 unselected tabs do this?
