 I've added the log and snapshot of Pidgin showing the Pidgin client
 understanding the status message has changed but showing me (as my own
 buddy) having no status message. (I've also tested this with different
 accounts and using the Gtalk app.)

 My Gtalk account is noelstjohn at gmail.com in the logs.
