New description:

 Hi Guys,

 Was able to compile the code without a problem. However the program will
 not install. See below:

 {{{
 desktop# gmake install
 Making install in libpurple
 gmake[1]: Entering directory
 `/usr/home/alex/Desktop/pidgin-2.5.4/libpurple'
 gmake  install-recursive
 gmake[2]: Entering directory
 `/usr/home/alex/Desktop/pidgin-2.5.4/libpurple'
 Making install in plugins
 gmake[3]: Entering directory
 `/usr/home/alex/Desktop/pidgin-2.5.4/libpurple/plugins'
 Making install in perl
 gmake[4]: Entering directory
 `/usr/home/alex/Desktop/pidgin-2.5.4/libpurple/plugins/perl'
 gmake[5]: Entering directory
 `/usr/home/alex/Desktop/pidgin-2.5.4/libpurple/plugins/perl/common'
 gmake[5]: Leaving directory
 `/usr/home/alex/Desktop/pidgin-2.5.4/libpurple/plugins/perl/common'
 gmake[5]: Entering directory
 `/usr/home/alex/Desktop/pidgin-2.5.4/libpurple/plugins/perl'
 gmake[6]: Entering directory
 `/usr/home/alex/Desktop/pidgin-2.5.4/libpurple/plugins/perl/common'
 Writing /auto/Purple/.packlist
 FreeBSD: Registering installation in the package database
 }}}

 And that's as far is it goes. It just sits there infinitely. Any ideas why
 its hanging?

 System = FreeBSD 7.1-STABLE/amd64

Comment:

 It is hanging in the FreeBSD package management stuff, not in any of the
 code maintained by us - your best bet is probably to inquire on a freebsd
 mailinglist / IRC channel.
