 pidgin 2.5.2 on Ubuntu 8.10

 pidgin disconnects me from the chatroom after 5 - 10 minutes. Midway
 through the session the following trace appears on the terminal:

 (pidgin:9591): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_element_set_state: assertion
 `GST_IS_ELEMENT (element)' failed

 Later, I am disconnected from the chat. I am attaching the -d output for
 the session.  Right before I am disconnected I get:

 (22:18:16) oscar: Destroying oscar connection of type 0x000e.  Disconnect
 reason is 4
