Comment:

 Once upon a time, this would not have been a problem: we forced pidgin to
 be wide enough to display all menu text.  We changed that because people
 *wanted* it to be too small to see all menus.  Thus I'm going to say this
 is working as designed: pidgin has no way of knowing that you changed the
 theme and thus *this* time want it to resize.
