 This request is best implemented as a plugin.  Currently we as Pidgin
 developers are not interested in implementing it.  This ticket remains
 open as an invitation for someone to write a plugin fulfilling the
 request.[[BR]]This is the way the current loggers are designed to work,
 because if I'm having a conversation at midnight, I don't want it to be
 split across 2 log files.

 A plugin could implement a different logger that closed files at the end
 of each day.
