Comment:

 pidgin does not interact with PHP, however I believe we have seen PHP
 install a broken copy of aspell which causes pidgin problems, there should
 be a ticket filed about that somewhere. But changing the php.ini file is
 unlikely to have any bearing on aspell or pidgin.

 You still need to explain what exactly is going on.
