 After some experementing I find I can still login to MSN on the old
 Windows Live Messenger client and some nasty web based clients, but all of
 a sudden pidgin won't authenticate
 I suspect this is actually Microsoft making things difficult as usual,
 rather than a bug, but it still seems worth reporting to me.
 Here is the most obvious relevent output from "pidgin -d":
