Comment:

 That error was happening while I was home for xmas, and now that I'm back
 in NC, pidgin is working fine again, so it must've been something with my
 parents' internet.

 Weird, because it worked fine in August, and none of their settings had
 changed.  They have AT&T DSL, and I have time warner road runner, if that
 means anything to anyone.  Like I said, it worked fine the last time I was
 in town, so I've got no clue why it would flake out this time.
