Comment:

 It may be possible for a plugin (which can add a logging method) to check
 a given accounts current status before actually writing to log files, but
 I'm unsure what sort of overhead this would entail and I believe at the
 moment that logging is synchronous (so overhead would be noticable to
 pidgin use).

 Alternatively, if you only ever use global statuses (that is one status
 for all of your accounts) it would be possible for a plugin to listen for
 status changes and enable/disable the logging preference as appropriate
 for the current status.
