 If I try to quit Pidgin it seems to always show the buddy list just before
 the program quits. The frozen and inactive (empty) window that would be
 the buddy list persists and requires repeated attempts to kill with the
 task manager.

 While the faux buddy list is waiting to be killed it seems to be seriously
 hanging up memory, so it is impossible to just ignore.

 If there were some way to turn off the buddy list I would. But I can't
 find one in the Preferences... which I find puzzling.

 If I'm missing something obvious, send me an e-mail and tell me what it
 is.
