Tough said, Pidgin user management is BRAIN-DEAD, and someone should do
something about options connected which different contacts. 7 yeas ago
when I was using miranda I had for each contact
-visible list
-invisible list
-presence list
-ignore list
-notification list
7 years later using linux i'm stuck with Pidgin and I got some block list,
which nobody really knows that is in fact is. Is it blocking just
presence, or in fact do I lose messages if someone drops me offline
message seeing me offline? (I somewhere found this: "...blocking on ICQ is
presence information only (messages are still allowed), I know blocking on
AIM blocks presence I'm unsure if it also blocks messages, blocking on IRC
should block messages, blocking on MSN (assuming the correct privacy
setting is selected) should block presence and messages (I believe). I
don't know enough about yahoo to say what it should be doing..." what
sounds like a joke...)
And please only global notifications? I don't care and so doesn't 95
percent of population about everyone if they are going online, offline, I
just WANT to know only about handful of my friends. But no, there is not
such an option and GUInotification keeps poping up and down every few
seconds...
You guys are simply shame, nobody came with something new, if you sit down
and think a bit about it, IM desperately needs something like setting
lists for different environments - you're in work and you want to look
online for your co-workers, for friends NA or offline, you want
notification for going online for clients not friends, in home you don't
want to appear online for clients or boss, you want notification on other
people... And surely you don't want every time to go through visible,
invisible, presence, notification, ignore lists... Why no developer can't
stop being copycat, sit on ass and develop oneclick change on environments
with easy setup?
Sorry, I'm simply so disappointed with Pidgin on Linux... Can any
developer at least copycat idea of lists from 7 years old IM clients and
make plugins for visible, invisible, presence, notification, ignore lists?
