Comment:

 Displaying typing notifications in the window titlebar (assuming that is
 what you meant by caption) doesn't sound like a particularly good idea to
 me. We still display the typing notification in the conversation tab
 though (assuming you have tabs enabled and the infopane isn't hiding a
 single tab). We removed the icon as we felt it was the least useful of the
 available typing notifications and felt that having three redundant
 notification mechanisms was too much. It should be possible to resurrect
 the typing notification icon as a plugin (I thought someone had already
 done this but can't seem to find it in a quick look around, though you may
 want to check as I didn't try particularly hard to find it).

 Would it be feel better to you if pidgin were to reserve a line at the
 bottom of the conversation window for the typing notification or remove
 the blank line when the typed message was deleted? (I'm not saying either
 of those will necessarily happen, in particular not the reclaiming of the
 line (that was removed as a great annoyance), I'm just curious.)
