New description:
Pidgin Version: 1:2.5.2-0ubuntu1~hardy1
If a http proxy is set up in the global network settings, then upon
connection failure to the proxy server, pidgin sends the following mis-
leading/wrong error message, whilst connecting to the MSN Messenger
service:
"Connection error from Notification server:
Unable to connect"
The error should say something like:
"Connection error: Proxy server not reachable"
I *think* proxy errors are not picked up by the MSN package. I found that
the error is printed by function:
msn_servconn_got_error(MsnServConn *servconn, MsnServConnError error)
In ./libpurple/protocols/msn/servconn.c:122 and in
./libpurple/protocols/msnp9/servconn.c:120
However I'm not competent in C programming, hence I'm not a 100% sure and
also there is a lack in the number of error messages. Hope this helps
rather than confuses people.
Thanks and all the best,
Zoltan
