New description:

The dialogue has many options with duplicate shortcut keys:

A is assigned as a shortcut key for 3 different options:
 1. &Account
 2. P&auses while typing
 3. &Add

 M for 2 options:
 1. Sends a &message
 2. Send a &message

 I for 2 options:
 1. Becomes &idle
 2. &Insert

 F for 2 options:
 1. Signs o&f&f (why underlined twice?)
 2. &Font

Obviously each shortcut key should be unique. In this case, pressing a
duplicated key just cycles between the options. The only way to close the
dialogue via the keyboard, for example, is to press ALT-A until you get to
"Add" and then hit enter/space. For me being able to control a GUI with
the keyboard is still quite important.

 Here are my suggested fixes:

 Acc&ount[[BR]]
 S&ends a message (1st time only)[[BR]]
 Signs o&ff (only one f)[[BR]]
 Pauses w&hile typing[[BR]]
Pounce only when my status is not a&vailable

This still leaves duplicates for I and F, but since the only remaining
letters are JKQZ I don't see any solution for those. It's a huge dialogue
with 24 different options, so some duplicates are unavoidable. The
remaining four options will just have to be navigated with the tab key or
by pressing the shortcut key twice.

It would be ideal if the message formatting shortcuts (Font/Insert/Smile)
only activated when the cursor was in the message editing window (and Send
a message was checked), however I'm not sure if this is possible with GTK.
