 pidgin is not a contact management solution, nor is it [wiki:"Using Pidgin
 #CanIusePidginfore-
 mailbloggingRSSfeedssocialnetworkingoranythingelsethatisntIM-related" an
 email client].

 That being said, we do ship an evolution integration plugin (which doesn't
 get much attention but should work at least somewhat) and nothing stops
 people from writing similar plugins to interact with any other contact
 management solution.

 Similarly, pidgin does not provide email functionality but nothing
 prevents someone from writing an email plugin (as a protocol or
 otherwise), other than that it would be absolutely dreadful to use with
 the default IM interface and likaly wouldn't in any particularly
 reasonable way support even simple things like replying to emails
 correctly.
