 Jabber is a trademark, I'd rather not have it in the UI. I'm not concerned
 if people use other clients because they think pidgin doesn't support
 "Jabber", especially if the other clients they use are single protocol
 clients.

 Like I said, adding (Jabber) solves exactly one of the problems we have,
 people who know that name and not XMPP. Personally, I think the number of
 people who know Jabber and don't know XMPP is vanishingly small. I think
 the numbers of people who know LiveJournal and not XMPP is much larger,
 similarly for Google Talk, and probably similarly for any number of other
 sites out there that offer XMPP services.

 I'd rather come up with a solution that actually solves them all rather
 than simply cluttering up the protocol menu for one case.
