 Do you mean when you receive an offline message? When you send one?
 Something else?

 For message receipt doing this would require the protocol to tell us that
 fact, something I'm not sure they all do. When we get timestamp
 information that is significantly far enough in the past and/or has been
 indicated to us as having been "in the past" then we should display the
 full date rather that the short date but that's about as much as we can
 do.
