Comment:

 Could've sworn I left a note...  sorry. I'm no longer affected by this
 issue. Unfortunately I changed three things at once due to a physical
 relocation and a hard drive crash:

 -Upgraded Pidgin
 -Changed ISP from Verizon DSL to Time Warner cable
 -Changed router
