Comment:

 As of 2.5.8, the problem is no longer there.

 Pidgin now responds with the error message:

 ''The folder contents could not be displayed
 Error stating file 'C:\Temp\Folder': No such file or directory''

 After clicking OK, "Buddy Icon" file browser becomes operational and I can
 browse to find a new icon.

 However, it still does not work exactly as it should, I guess, because
 this error message appears '''behind''' the "Buddy Icon" file browser
 window.
