 Just tested this on Ubuntu 9.04 with OpenOffice Writer 3.0 with Pidgin
 2.5.8.

 Whilst I don't get the document title, I do get whitespace padding before
 and after.  I did also paste the same text into gedit and there was no
 extraneous whitespace.
