 I guess I can't re-open a ticket, so this is a continuation of ticket
 #9570 which was closed prematurely.  So I'll cut and paste from that.

 This is not resolved.

 The following new information was provided: Pidgin on my laptop still does
 not connect as described above.  But when I take the laptop home, it works
 fine on my DSL.  I installed Pidgin on another PC at work and it works
 fine.  I move my laptop to another router at work, and it works.  But it
 does not work at my wired desk Ethernet connection, since 2 weeks ago.
 But AIM client does, it has no problems.

 There is something different in our network for this port, and there must
 be some sensitivity in Pidgin besides just needing port 5190.  I am
 pursuing router changes here, but I'm told nothing is blocked and nothing
 changed.

 What else does Pidgin need to run?  Is there another port used for login
 or something?
