 I would like to see an option for pidgin to only be displayed in the
 system tray. Currently whenever pidgin is open it shows on the windows
 start bar and it gets in the way.

 I copied the text from ticket #2057 (which is closed now) since I'd like
 to see this option too.  Please see ticket #4982 too.

 The proposed solution (to use "Extended Preferences" plugin) doesn't work
 anymore since update of GTK+ runtime in pidgin release 2.4.0.

 The development of the extended plugin seems to be abandoned in 2007, see
 http://gaim-extprefs.sourceforge.net/ep.shtml

 Could the option "Hide taskbar entry" be added to pidgin options?
