 Just tested this on Pidgin 2.5.8 and I cannot copy (highlight then drag n
 drop) a graphic smiley from one conversation window to another.  I get
 empty text where the smiley should be.

 As there was a patch for something similar to this in #3286, perhaps this
 could be moved to Patches Welcome?
