 The patch appears to apply still against 2.5.8, but I haven't tested it
 and it would need review anyway.

 When I first wrote it I asked the developers on IRC what they wanted to do
 with it. The response I had was that since a better history plugin exists
 in the plugins pack (of which I wasn't aware at the time), fixing this
 plugin in this way was redundant. I suggested that they pull the plugin
 pack history module into the main tree but the conversation trailed off
 unresolved and I decided to just leave the ticket as-is. Personally I'm
 quite happy with the basic version, though would prefer to have this issue
 resolved somehow.

 It's worth noting that I'm interested in this issue for its behaviour with
 a small log, not a large log -- when the previous conversation was only
 one line long it doesn't provide much history, such as when you
 accidentally close a window.

 If there's any interest in tidying this up and testing it for 2.6.0, I'd
 be quite happy to do that.
