 Yes, this is still happening on Pidgin 2.5.8.

 If the setting "Show system tray icon" is set to "On unread messages" and
 I receive a new message, then the tray icon doesn't update properly.

 I'm also still seeing the issue I saw in the last update (Pidgin must be
 started with the setting set to "Always" or else the tray icon doesn't
 update properly).

 I have Buddy State Notification, Psychic Mode, and Release Notification as
 my only enabled plugins and no third party plugins installed on this
 system.
