 It looks to me like the "Last seen" notifications are calculated at
 display time by doing the equivalent of "current_time -
 the_time_i_saw_that_person" (where the latter is an absolute, not relative
 time), so this shouldn't happen (at least in Pidgin 2.5.8).

 If this is still occurring, when you wake up your computer, is the
 computer's clock correct? Do incoming (or outgoing) IMs display the
 correct time?
