New description:

From the end of ticket #409 and Debian bug report
 http://bugs.debian.org/440205:
When using irc on irc.Darkmyst.org I can't get chatrooms to work:

I can /join them, I can send messages, but I can't get replies on those
messages (or anything else said in that room). I can /msg a user directly,
and can communicate that way with people, but no chatrooms.

My debug window gave similar errors, espescially the "(21:29:23) irc: Got
a NOTICE on AUTH, which does not exist" but also errors like: "(21:29:37)
irc: Got a NAMES list for #testUmbrae, which doesn't exist" - error gotten
when joining a room (already existing or not) "(21:30:23) irc: Got a
PRIVMSG on #testUmbrae, which does not exist" - error gotten when some-one
 says something in that room

 -----

Darkmyst is sending the NAMES response before it sends JOIN -- It isn't
clear to me that this violates the IRC spec (which is woefully vague), but
it is certainly strange and I have not seen it before. I'll see what I can
 do about this.
