 Is the issue the History plugin or the Log Viewer? (or is it text entered
 into a conversation window by the history plugin and viewed in the Log
 Viewer?)

 To clarify, the history plugin loads logs the last conversation and
 displays it in the scrollback area of a conversation window when a new
 conversation is started. The log viewer is the dialog you have open in the
 screenshot which is displaying the improper emoticon.
