Comment:

 This is crashing in gstreamer/libgl (!?!?); you should report the bug to
 slackware as I'm not sure there's anything we can do about this.

 Disabling sounds should probably workaround the issue. Start up pidgin in
 offline mode (`pidgin -n`) and disable sounds in the preferences.
