New description:

 I am not sure why this is happening, but when I connect to my sametime
 server, even though through Sametime client I can see a group of buddies
 are signed on, Pidgin interface shows only a subset of the buddies.  It
 seems that after 4 buddy groups, the rest are not processed.  Is there a
 setting that I have missed?

 Hey buddy,

 I have since moved to a MAC and now using Adium.  However, I will give
 Pidgin 2.5.8 a try and report back.
